Version 2 plug-ins are now in beta
We’ve been rebuilding our entire plug-in lineup from the ground up, and we’re finally ready share what we’ve been working on. All five Sketch Audio effects: Doctor Vibe, Fuzz Droid, Galaxy Brain, Hyper Boost, and Scissor Hands are now in beta (again). Read on to find out what’s new.

What’s new in v2
New formats, built natively
Our v2 effects support every major plug-in format:
- AAX (Pro Tools)
- Audio Unit v2 and v3
- CLAP
- VST3
In v1, we provided thin wrappers for our Audio Units to support CLAP and VST3, but ultimately we felt it was not a permanent solution. In v2, every format is built natively, which means better performance and a more natural feel in whichever DAW you use.
Windows support
All five effects now work on Windows. Getting there required rebuilding our tech stack from the ground up, but the result is a product that feels at home on every platform we support.
Universal license
We’ll be moving our licensing away from Apple. The new license covers five devices across any combination of our supported platforms — Mac, Windows, and iOS.
If you purchased any of our effects at version 1.5 or earlier, you’ll receive a free upgrade code when the update goes live.
Light mode
All plug-in UIs now have light mode. You can set it manually or let it follow your system setting.
Auto Bypass
Auto Bypass was previously exclusive to Doctor Vibe. It’s now available across all five effects. When enabled, the plug-in skips processing when it isn’t needed, reducing CPU load. If your DAW already handles this, you can leave it off and let the DAW do its thing.
LFO improvements
Nine LFO shapes are now available:
- Sine, triangle, square
- Saw down, saw up
- Random, smooth random
- Random (stereo), smooth random (stereo)
Two new parameters have also been added: phase offset and swing.
Repeatable Random
All modulation sources now support a repeatable timeline. With Repeatable Random enabled, a random LFO will produce the same sequence of values at any given point in your timeline — no matter where you start playback from. This is important for consistent results in a mix. When you hear something you like, just lock the random seed in the settings menu and it will play back that way every time.
Product-specific changes
- Fuzz Droid — max drive increased to +48 dB
- Galaxy Brain — updated clipping stage gain compensation for more consistent output across drive settings
- Hyper Boost — Ceiling range extended down to −18 dB; Edge range extended down to −60 dB
- Scissor Hands — updated clipping stage gain compensation for more consistent output across drive settings; Q–Gain Compensation now available per filter
