Our first free plug-in, Lil' Doc

We’re excited to launch a series of free plug-ins called the Nugget Basket, and the first one is out today! Meet Lil’ Doc.
The idea behind the series is pretty simple. We pack a lot of love (and controls) into our paid plug-ins, and sometimes our favorite tidbits get a little bit lost in the feature set. So with the Nugget Basket, we wanted to take our favorite algorithms from our paid lineup and bundle them into small, focused plug-ins that still sound great and are, best of all, free.
Lil’ Doc is the free little brother to Doctor Vibe and it’s a compressor based on the muscular, vinyl simulation effect from a workhorse sampler of the early 00s. It’s a sound that’s quietly built a following among lo-fi heads, and for good reason. It’s powerful, noisy, and it does something to drums that nothing else really does.
We stripped it down to four essential controls:
- Slam, amount of compression. This is where the magic is.
- Noise, vinyl noise and crackle.
- Drive, clip the converters!
- Grade, four selectable sample grades.
Drop it on a drum bus and push the Slam knob. We think you’ll like what you hear!
Lil’ Doc runs as an AAX, AUv2, AUv3, CLAP, and VST3 plug-in on macOS, Windows, and iOS. Grab it here:
